Elcock stood for Reform UK in the Bransgore, Burley, Sopley & Ringwood East ward near Bournemouth in February 2025. That political background matters because Safeguard Community Support has presented itself as “apolitical” and community-focused.

Byline Times reported that GB News’ Martin Daubney interviewed Ritchie Wellman alongside Adam Elcock, and described Elcock as a “founding member” and “supporter” of Safeguard Force.
We have not seen clear evidence that Elcock was formally listed as a founder of Safeguard Community Support. If GB News described him that way, that may be inaccurate. But the description is still revealing.
It shows the political and media circles around Safeguard Community Support, and raises questions about how “apolitical” the project really is.
GB News and the “local resident” framing
Elcock has also appeared in GB News coverage about Bournemouth, asylum seekers and community safety. Byline Times reported that he was presented in coverage as a Bournemouth local, resident and veteran, without always making clear that he had recently stood for Reform UK.
That framing matters. Viewers may be encouraged to see Safeguard Community Support as a neutral community response, rather than as a project surrounded by figures linked to Reform UK, anti-migrant politics and right-wing media.
Why this matters
Safeguard Community Support claims to be about community safety. But community safety is not neutral when it is shaped by anti-migrant panic, asylum hotel protests and Reform UK politics.
The question is not only whether Adam Elcock held an official title. The question is why a recent Reform UK candidate was being promoted around a supposedly apolitical patrol group, why GB News described him as a “founding member” and “supporter”, and what that says about the circles Safeguard Community Support has moved in.
Residents are entitled to ask who is speaking for the group, who is shaping its politics, and whether its idea of “safety” challenges scapegoating — or helps reproduce it.
